Chris Tong Named to Kosmos Energy’s Board of Directors

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Kosmos Energy announces today that its Board of Directors has approved Chris Tong’s appointment to the company’s Board, subject to completion of certain corporate formalities. Kosmos expects to finalize Tong’s Board appointment during the first quarter of 2011. As a Board member, Tong will serve as Chairman of the Audit Committee in addition to his other duties. Tong has more than 30 years of oil and gas industry experience, including 10 years as an energy banker and 20 years in the upstream and midstream sectors. He served as chief financial officer at various public companies for 12 years.
“Chris is a seasoned executive leader with notable public company board expertise. We welcome him to the Kosmos Board of Directors,” said John R. Kemp III, Kosmos Chairman.
Tong held various management positions at Noble Energy, Inc., which included the role of senior vice president and chief financial officer from 2005 to 2009 before he retired in 2009. He also was senior vice president and chief financial officer at Magnum Hunter Resources, Inc. from 1997 to 2004.
Previously, Tong held several management positions at Tejas Gas Corp., a midstream natural gas company, and earlier worked as an energy banker at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Post Oak Bank and Bankers Trust Company.
Tong is a member of the Boards of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committees at Targa Resources Corp. (NYSE: TRGP) and Cloud Peak Energy Inc. (NYSE: CLD). He earned a bachelor of arts in economics degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
