Abu Dhabi Licensing Department to Regularly Inspect Tires

The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at Abu Dhabi Police has urged drivers to ensure the safety and ability of their vehicles’ tires in order to avoid serious traffic accidents caused by faulty, worn-out tires. Moreover, the department urged them to regularly check the condition of their tires and check their pressure.
It is worth mentioning that the department organized an awareness-raising initiative to educate motorists about tire safety and optimizing their use. It also advised them to make sure to choose the right tire that is the best option for their vehicles’ speed and power.
Colonel Mohamed Mayouf Al Kutbi, Head of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, stressed that Abu Dhabi Police pays great attention in order to provide the public with safety, and pays special attention to traffic issues in order to ensure the safety of individuals and prevent accidents. Moreover, Colonel Al Kutbi highlighted the importance of carrying out the necessary technical tests for tires, and learning how to verify their serviceability.
The Head of Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department also warned motorists who change their vehicles’ tires against leaving the damaged tires on external roads, which create obstacles that lead to traffic accidents. He also emphasized the need to increase awareness among drivers and have them participate in increasing the efforts in order to reduce the number of traffic accidents.
For his part, Lt. Colonel Hamid Mohammed Sharif, Head of the Support Services Section at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, said that the department organized an awareness-raising initiative for motorists during their visit to the Technical Test Center at the “Al Salama” main building. As part of the initiative, brochures that motivate people to check their tires were distributed. The brochures aimed to familiarize people with tire specifications.
The initiative also featured a lecture presented by Eng. Khaled Abdul Ghani, Technical Director at Abu Dhabi Tyre Co., about the optimal use of tires and how to handle them. Gifts were also distributed to motorists to enhance Abu Dhabi Police’s method of communicating with the community, and expand awareness in general.
Attending the awareness events were Captain Abdullah Al Tunaiji, Head of the Public Relations Branch; Captain Hamdan Al Matrooshi, Al Salama Center-Abu Dhabi Branch Manager; and Ahmed Al Mawafi Ibrahim, CEO of Abu Dhabi Tyre Co.
