Al Riwaq Art Space hosts Market 338

As part of its initiative to provide the public with innovative events, Al Riwaq Art Space, a leader in Bahrain's art and culture scene, is setting up Bahrain's first outdoor market dedicated to showcasing Bahrain-based artistic talent. Primarily sponsored by the Economic Development Board, Market 338 aims to attract top local talent to create an atmosphere that will inspire fresh ideas. The event will kick off on Thursday January 13th from 5pm - 10pm and Friday 14th from 10 am - 10 pm. Located just outside Al Riwaq Art Space, situated in Block 338 in Adliya's popular restaurant district, Market 338 will stretch all the way to Century Restaurant, allowing visitors plenty of space to be part of this trendy and inventive eventt.
As part of Al Riwaq's outreach to the public, local artists have been invited to participate in the market and a screening process undertaken to ensure that only the best talent have been selected. Market 338 is set to engage visitors by showcasing and promoting Bahrain's booming art and cultural scene. Recognizing not only local talent, Al Riwaq is also welcoming Bahrain-based or international artists.
Market 338 will be an ongoing event, taking place every other weekend until April 2011. Unique artwork will be on display and available for purchase including arts and crafts, watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings, graphic and digital artwork, and music CDs.
Each weekend, the market will hold a special event to attract visitors, including a traditional Arabic band, also known as "Laiwa"; live pottery making and live henna painting. These special events are organized in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Al Riwaq Art Space's Market 388 is free, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
