ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, October 24th 2013
As
part of its participation in the 33rd edition of GITEX 2013, the
Ministry of Interior, represented by the Abu Dhabi Police General
Headquarters, signed a number of cooperation agreements with specialized
technology companies.
Colonel Anwar Al Mulla, Head of ICT
Department at Abu Dhabi Police indicated that a number of services, It
products and solutions were displayed at the exhibition, along with
security and surveillance systems currently applicable.
“We have
signed several agreements with major information technology companies,”
he said; notably, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Abu Dhabi
Police GHQ and Oracle Corporation. As part of this MoU, Oracle would
provide its database solutions and licenses to develop policing systems
currently applicable in several areas of police work; such as the
Unified Criminal Justice System and the Human Resources Management
System at the level of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ. “We also signed another
MoU with EMC Corporation, whereas EMC would provide Content-Addressable
Storage; centralized data archiving platform; and inactive data fully
accessible archived storage,” he added.
Al Mulla underscored that
the partnership with EMC Corporation aims at supporting the ongoing
efforts of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ to further develop its core IT
infrastructure into a solid, secure and flexible environment, capable of
accommodating the expected data growth. This would ensure a modern
police force, supported by a smart IT network and proactive methodology,
capable of catering to community members’ needs. “The EMC Corporation
distinguished technologies will enable the Abu Dhabi Police to create an
open, efficient and globally integrated work environment,” he
continued.
He also commended the cooperation agreement with EMC
Corporation, as an instrumental tool to support the Abu Dhabi Police’s
efforts, commensurate with the UAE Government’s vision to implement the
smart government initiatives, namely; performance development; and
transactions and procedures automation process with a view to shift to
an electronic paper-free business environment.
Colonel Al Mullah
also pointed out to the Memorandum of Understanding signed with GBM, to
provide the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ with leading IT infrastructure
solutions (software and hardware), as per the latest cutting-edge
technologies applicable globally. Moreover, another MoU was inked with
Atlas Communications Company, to provide a range of communications
solutions to enhance the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ wireless network, which is
the pillar of police work. The Atlas Communications Company provides
businesses with cutting-edge infrastructure solutions to ensure stable
and secure communications networks, with a high level of accuracy and
efficiency.
The Ministry of Interior inked another deal with
Toshiba Corporation, whereas the company will provide the Abu Dhabi
Police staff members with state-of-the art laptops. As part of the MoU
signed with IBM, the company will develop the Ministry of Interior’s
electronic services and create smart apps for all these
customer-oriented services.
