As a part of its participation at GITEX 2013, the Ministry of Interior, represented by GIS Security Center at Abu Dhabi GHQ, received the Best Government Cloud Computing App award from the Cloud Computing Forum. The award was for the Federal GIS Security Infrastructure project.

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, confirmed that this leading project is a step towards the full transformation to Smart Services and the activation of GIS services as an essential component of the Smart Government. This transformation aims to harness the cutting-edge smart digital systems in law enforcement and to achieve the highest levels of security and public safety.  Doing so will achieve the strategic police priorities in IT investment, foster the geographical capabilities of the security institution, and increase competitiveness in the police and security sectors, which will be manifested positively in protecting the nation and its citizens.

He also stressed that the GIS Security Center, as per the directions and support of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, will continue to launch e-security geospatial services for GIS exchange among police headquarters at the state level. This information interchangeability will reinforce police activities on all operational, executive, and strategic levels and enhance the efficiency of security work. Furthermore, it will also support the decision making processes to shape knowledge obtained from the data analysis, and draw from the procedures and expertise of personnel at the police body.
