Mohammed Khalfan Matar Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu
Dhabi Police reiterated the police leadership’s commitment to support
and praise the vital and valuable role played by work teams and
specialists, each in their respective field, in taking care of the youth
generation in general, and the Al Mafraq Juveniles Care Center inmates
in particular. He also noted that Al Mafraq Juveniles Care Center has
become one of the most distinguished centers for juveniles care and
receives the utmost attention and care of the UAE and its higher
leadership, out of the firm belief that young people are the key pillar
of progress and development.
H.E Al Rumaithi also praised the
attention dedicated by Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and his keenness to
support, and protect juveniles delinquents with a view to rehabilitate
them and get them back on the right track; being the collective
responsibility of all parties that are concerned with providing care,
rehabilitation and support to this particular social segment.

Al Rumaithi made these remarks while attending the Social Day events
organized by the Juveniles Care Center at Abu Dhabi Police, in
collaboration with the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of
Interior. The event aims to engage all community segments, as well as
government and private institutions and highlight the importance of
caring for juveniles, in line with the genuine Emirati society’s customs
and traditions.
In his speech on the occasion, H.E Al Rumaithi
extended the greetings of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, leader of the
security and stability process. “Our higher leadership is committed to
following up on juveniles issues and reviewing the great achievements
constantly made by this prestigious institution, as part of its valuable
role to rehabilitate and care for juveniles, and the numerous
activities dedicated to serve and protect the youth against falling
prey to delinquency.”
Furthermore, H.E Al Rumaithi added: “By
honoring the various participating entities, and their representatives,
as well as volunteers from the public, the police institution seeks to
emphasize the importance of partnership in ensuring the success of any
project, particularly projects that are designed for juvenile
delinquents. This is the ultimate goal that we all work together to
achieve, using the best and most socially efficient methods. The
honorees have been instrumental in helping the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ to
deliver the message that aims to spread awareness and the various
aspects of the correctional culture, which enhances social stability and
provides the highest levels of safety and security for all.”
The
opening ceremony began with the UAE National Anthem performed by the
Abu Dhabi Police Music Band, followed by a recitation from the Holy
Quran by one of the juveniles. Another juvenile presented the “Flag
Responsibility” initiative, by which he noted that the flag is a symbol
of pride and loyalty, and strengthens the sense of belonging to this
generous country. Then, the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band performed a
number of musical pieces and formations that were highly applauded by
the audience.
The Social Day events also included numerous
activities and programs with the participation of the juveniles, such as
Telematch and challenge contests, in addition to awareness lectures and
workshops. The juveniles also attended a play titled “My
Responsibility” that featured a number of artists, in addition to a “K9”
Police Dogs show.
Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police
and the audience also watched a documentary film about H.H Sheikh Saif
bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior’s
visit to the Center. They also screened a film about the center and its
role in providing care and support to juveniles as of the moment they
arrive to the center. The film also sheds light on the various medical,
educational, and sport services offered by the center to juveniles,
which aim to foster harmony and love among juveniles so that they return
as productive members of society and good citizens upon leaving the
center.
At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency Mohammed
Khalfan Al Rumaithi honored the ministries, departments, universities,
authorities, institutions and partners who contributed to the success of
the Social day events. He also received a commemorative shield from the
Police College.
The ceremony was attended by Brigadier Ahmed
Mohammed Nehkairah, Head of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of
Interior; Colonel Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Bu Hindi, Director of the
Juveniles Care Center at Abu Dhabi Police; Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri,
ADEC's Executive Director of School Operations; Dr. Mohammed bin Selim;
Lieutenant Colonel Hamdan Al Shehhi; representatives of Ministries,
universities, departments, authorities, and partners; and a large number
of police officers.
H.E Mohammed Khalfan Matar Al Rumaithi,
Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police also made an inspection
visit to Juveniles Care Center, accompanied by Brigadier Hamad Adeel Al
Shamesi, Director General of Correctional and Punitive Establishments at
the Ministry of Interior; Brigadier Mohammed Rashid Al Shamesi,
Director of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief’s Office; and Colonel Mohammed
Saif Matar Al Zaabi, Head of the Punitive and Correctional
Establishments Department at Abu Dhabi Police.
H.E Al Rumaithi
toured the center and the juveniles’ dorms; the Educational Care Center
affiliated to Abu Dhabi Education Center (ADEC), and the Skills and
Behavioral Values Center, and viewed juveniles’ conditions. He was also
briefed about the center, its tasks and duties, and the various programs
it provides, especially the social confidential communication program,
as well as the center’s brochures and its portal on the Abu Dhabi GHQ’s
website, Jwc@adpolice.gov.ae. He was also introduced to the educational
services provided by the center for juveniles, to guarantee their right
to continue education even while at the center. Additionally, he met the
center’s officers and praised their efforts to improve the center. He
also encouraged them to exert further efforts to develop juveniles’
positive behavior according to a comprehensive development plan to
enhance the center’s duties.
H.E Al Rumaithi also visited the
photo gallery prepared by the Clubs and Sports Activities Department at
Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, which includes old police photographs. He also
viewed the 999 magazine and was briefed by Lt. Colonel Awadh Saleh Al
Kendi, Editor-in-Chief of 999, about the magazine’s history and its
development stages. He was also acquainted with the Police College role
in qualifying and training police members.
