Industry power and water stakeholders to collaborate efforts to establish sustainable initiatives required for the region
Dubai, united Arab Emirates - Thursday, October 30th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
At the onset of the 3rd Annual Global IWPP Summit in Dubai, industry stakeholders are gearing up to present their views on the state of affairs, need projections and collaborative strategies needed to pave a path of sustainability for the power and water sector in the Middle East. Independent Water and Power Plants (IWPP) have a proven record of delivering results with multiple projects already implemented in the GCC coupled with the Emirates' vision to diversify its energy supply mix for power production by 2030. With widespread reports of large spending for the utility sector in the GCC, the question remains; will IWPPs be able to attract a considerable share of the investment pie to meet the fast growing demand for power and water in the Middle East?
Organized by Fleming Gulf with the support of the Ministry Of Energy – U.A.E and endorsed by Dubai Electricity And Water Authority (DEWA), the 3rd edition of the summit will take place on the 4th and 5th November, 2014 at the Al Habtoor in Dubai. The summit, through it's comprehensive agenda, aims to and serve as a platform for stakeholders from the public and private sector to discuss the future road map and key initiatives required to boost the development of independent power and water projects in the region.
While it has been established that private equity will continue to foster the growth of an IWPP, steps taken by UTICO, a full service multi utility company based in Ras Al Khaimah, has shown their commitment to the industry with spends of over a billion Dirhams for sustainable projects in the region, over the years. As headline sponsor of the summit; UTICO's Executive Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Richard Menezes will present his outlook on the sector on the opening day of the summit.
This years' summit will host multiple high profile speakers that include Matar Al Neyadi - Ministry of Energy, U.A.E, H. E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer - Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, H. E. Mohammed Bin Jarsh from Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Company (ADWEC), H. E. Dr. Rashid Al Leem - Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority(SEWA), Mubarak Al Nasr - Ras Laffan Operating Company, Abdurazzaq Al Hijan - Water and Electricity Company and many more industry stalwarts. As part of the summits' global agenda, a special case study on 'Private Sector Participation in Public Utility Projects in the Srilankan Electricity Sector' which will be orated by Damitha Kumarasinghe, Director General - Public Utilities Commission of Srilanka.
The leading Saudi Arabian O&M company NOMAC joins as Titanium partner alongside solution specialists LAKOS, Faisal Al Jasim Trading Company and Abengoa who will showcase their services that have delivered accelerated results to projects in the region.
