Dubai Design District (d3) Supports Update Launch of New Photo-Sharing App Yebab

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Monday, June 30th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Since launching the project almost a year ago, Dubai Design District (d3) has been a key supporter of a number of industry initiatives and events, in a bid to demonstrate its strategic commitment to the design, fashion, art and luxury sectors in the UAE. A creative hub dedicated to promoting and nurturing emerging local and regional talents, d3 takes its role in helping to shape the design industry very seriously and its support of the update launch of Yebab only served to reinforce this positioning further.

Hosted at the Impact Hub, bloggers, tech influencers and key media were introduced to the new Yebab concept. Founded in 2008 by Murshed and Mareyah Mohamed, Yebab has become in recent years one of the most influential online wedding directories in the region. With the ever growing reach of social media in the GCC, it was just a natural progression to develop a new photo-sharing concept with a twist and Yebab App was born.

Launched this April, with the mission to improve the way people connect and communicate, the user-friendly service has been designed to offer a dedicated, global platform where friends and followers could share photos and file them into sub-categories such as Fashion, Food, Entertainment, Travels …, to boost engagement with other users.

Catherine Thomas, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications for Dubai Design District, commented: Dubai has always harvested a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and I believe its ambition and determination will continue to be a source of inspiration for the global community.

Our core objective is to nurture this crop of talented and creative talents we have in the region: emerging brands, freelancers and start-ups such as Yebab and help them achieve their full potential. We are looking forward to further strengthen our collaboration with driven, passionate and gifted home-grown entrepreneurs and fully contribute to enhancing our creative design community”.

ABOUT DUBAI DESIGN DISTRICT

Dubai Design District, better known as d3, is dedicated to fostering the growth of the Emirate’s design, fashion, art and luxury industry. It offers businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals a creative community that will be at the very heart of the region’s design scene.

d3 is the newest of TECOM Investments’ freezone business parks – with 10 buildings currently under construction. Once complete, d3 will be a purpose built environment catering to the full value chain of the design, fashion and luxury industry – and all with the vision of creating a world class creative community that engages, nurtures and promotes local, regional and global design talent.

d3’s facilities will include everything from cutting-edge design institutes to residential, hospitality, retail and office space. The District will be characterised by distinct public areas, unique street furniture and shaded walkways. The development will include a Creek-side esplanade with international and boutique hotels, a pop-up shop area, amphitheatre and a convention centre.

Located close to Mohammed Bin Rashid City and adjacent to Dubai’s Business Bay, d3 is a short distance from the city’s arterial highways and two international airports. The District is in sight of the Creek, Dubai’s historic and mercurial trading epicentre, Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping complex.

d3 will be the most connected design, fashion and luxury destination in the world – with Dubai being only eight hours flight time from 90 per cent of the countries in the world.

Guided by the objectives set out in Dubai Fashion 2020 – a strategic plan to harness the full growth potential of the fashion industry – this creative community will support Dubai’s goals for a more diversified knowledge economy.
