Hackett London Opens New Store In Dubai

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, September 28th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

Quintessential British men’s outfitters Hackett London is due to open a brand new store in The United Arab Emirates, in Dubai. The store will be located in the Dubai Mall, on the first floor in Fashion Avenue at the bottom of the Burj Khalifa; the tallest building in the world and the magnificent centrepiece of downtown Dubai.

This will be the first Hackett London store in Dubai after trading through many wholesale accounts. The opening of this shop is in line with Hackett’s approach of opening flagship stores in key cities throughout the world.

The store concept will take inspiration from the famous and typically British exterior of Number 10 Downing Street, creating a residential feel inspired by a traditional London townhouse through the use of wooden panelling and black bricks. The starting point for the design focuses on the British Georgian period, particularly the style of architect Sir John Soane whose simple, classic yet strong approach to design reflects the very essence of Hackett. The classically timeless furniture and furnishings have been updated with a modern twist to provide distinctive focal points around the store.

The total retail selling space will be 160m2 spread across one floor over four separate selling rooms. The entrance to the store will embody the essence of luxury with beautifully reclaimed wood flooring which continues throughout the store and walls lined with white timber panels. A grand 1960s inspired chandelier located in the back room will also be seen upon entering the store and provides a contemporary contrast to the classic furniture and features within the store. Umbrella shaped door handles will be moulded from an original Hackett umbrella and have been inspired by the iconic Hackett Mayfair logo of the bowler hat and crossed umbrellas.

To the left of the entrance hallway will be the Hackett Mayfair suiting and sports room. The Hackett Mayfair room will have a new concept designed to recreate the atmosphere of a gentleman’s townhouse through dimmed warm lighting, rich charcoal walls, dark carpets and a seating area located at the front of the room. It will be a moody contrast to the classic Hackett world in the other rooms. To the right of the entrance hallway will be a room which houses the Aston Martin Racing by Hackett collection and further Hackett Mayfair ranges. Each room is designed with the collection in mind; attention to detail is key taking inspiration from the main colours and patterns within each theme throughout this retail concept.

A dedicated accessories and cash desk room will follow from the entrance hallway before leading into the room at the rear of the store, highlighted with a grand chandelier, timber paneled walls and antique furniture, showcasing the sports, casual and kids’ collections. It is important to Hackett to maintain the brand’s quirky Britishness and a great example are the walls within the two dressing rooms which will be covered with old bespoke suit patterns, complete with tailoring details still scribbled on them. Salon chairs around the store will be left partially upholstered to show the construction of a chair and illustrate the workmanship that goes into handcrafted furniture, a similar concept to that of a bespoke suit. It is this kind of detailing which reflects the brand’s strong personality and identity.

Throughout the store an eclectic mix of modern and antique artwork will line the walls incorporating an interesting display of artist sketches, photography, architectural sketches, period prints and lithographs, many of which are chosen by Jeremy Hackett (co-founder and chairman). Imagery around the store depicts the brand’s heritage, from the early days of its founders to more recent events in the brand’s evolution. Hackett is renowned for its attention to detail and this is clearly reflected in the new store environment.

Hackett London has 36 stand-alone stores and 44 concessions worldwide.
