Abu Dhabi Police Music Band Gears up for its Golden Jubilee

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, July 27th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

To mark the establishment of its Police Band nearly five decades ago in July 1963, the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ gears up for the Police Band Golden Jubilee celebrations. The celebrations, which will include several musical performances, will take place in several locations across the Emirates during the months of August, September and October 2013.

Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police indicated that the celebrations reflect the Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to document important events in the Music Band’s history, which spans for more than fifty years, and to reinforce its principles, aimed at instilling a sense of pride, loyalty and belonging among all police personnel.

He stated that celebrating such important milestones in the history of Abu Dhabi Police generates a firm conviction among its staff members that dedicated efforts and loyalty are not forgotten by the nation. This is confirmed by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who is always keen to honor loyal and distinguished staff members; both young members and veterans; who have shown dedication and commitment in the service of the police and the nation.

The Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police announced an upcoming initiative to acquaint the public with the Police Band’s role and its national contributions; and to shed light on its early stages of establishment and evolution throughout the past five decades.

He added: “The Abu Dhabi Police takes this opportunity to achieve further interaction with community members, through a large variety of live musical performances, for members of the public of all ages. These events will be held in shopping malls, schools and other places of gatherings, in many locations across the emirate of Abu Dhabi, and everyone is invited to attend and enjoy these performances.”

He emphasized that the Police, as a national institution, seeks to maintain its historical legacy and cherishes its background; out of its firm belief that today’s achievements are a complement to several linked and interrelated stages, and a result of the successive generations’ efforts, who worked for the good of the nation since the establishment of the Union.

For his part, Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Head of the Police Schools Department, noted that the celebrations organized by Abu Dhabi Police to mark its Music Band’s Golden Jubilee embody its institutional values and strategic thinking, which supports partnership and continuous communication with members of society. They also underscore its appreciation and pride with the progress and achievements of Abu Dhabi Police.
