Dubai, Wednesday, December 8th 2010 [ME NewsWire]:

Etisalat recently graduated 78 of its UAE National employees who have been enrolled in customised development courses, namely the Future Leaders and Young Professionals Programmes. The employees were honoured during “Metamorphosis 2010: Reaching Triumph”, an annual event arranged by Etisalat for its employees which promotes leadership and inspiration.

The event, which was held at the World Trade Centre in Dubai, covered a number of topics, including leadership, lessons from the global financial crisis and the latest strategies that companies need to adopt during challenging times. The event was attended by key speaker Stephane Garelli, a Professor at the Institute for Management Development (IMD) and the Director of IMD’s World Competitiveness Center. Etisalat’s top management, as well as more than 800 senior staff and associates, were present.

Etisalat Chairman Mohammad Omran, said: “Etisalat has worked hard since it was formed to develop and utilise the abilities of UAE nationals. Etisalat facilitates a number of programmes and initiatives to further develop leadership and related skills within the UAE workforce, in line with the UAE government’s vision for Emiratisation. As a result of its ongoing strategy, 90 per cent of Etisalat upper management are UAE nationals.”

Metamorphosis 2010 kicked off with a speech from Nasser Bin Obood, Etisalat Acting Chief Executive Officer, who discussed the importance of leadership in our lives, both professional and personal, and how Etisalat is promoting and encouraging leadership skills among its staff.

Bin Obood also highlighted the importance of human capital development, saying:

“We believe the key factor for long-term growth is the development of our human capital and the creation of a pool of talented, educated employees”.

He also added: “Each new market we enter requires a different strategy as no two markets are the same. Hence, we need to ensure we have the right human capital and leadership skills to be able to understand different cultures, norms and regulations in different markets to ultimately work as effectively as possible as 70 local employees are managing Etisalat international subsidiaries .

“A key learning we can bring out of this is to always be prepared and think ahead. It is absolutely vital that all of us – as individuals and companies – regularly review our business strategies, plans, and objectives to stay prepared,” he concluded.

This significant event celebrated another milestone with the graduation of Etisalat's talent pool, among them, the "Young Professionals Programme – Cohort 4", the “Future Leaders Programme – Professional Phase, Cohort 2” and the “Future Leaders Programme – Expert Phase, Cohort 2”. In Addition, as part of Etisalat’s ongoing commitment to motivate staff and recognize their hard work, Etisalat management rewarded the staff who displayed and achieved outstanding levels of performance during 2010.
