TOMI™ Environmental Solutions Leads the Symposium “Insights and Solutions for Emerging Viruses and Infectious Diseases” in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Sunday, September 1st 2013 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- TOMI™ Environmental Solutions, Inc. (“TOMI”) (OTCQB: TOMZ), a global bacteria decontamination and infectious disease control company, by invitation of The Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Meleihi, the Chairman of the Al Ramez Establishments for Medical Supplies A DIVISION ALRAMEZ GROUP lead a symposium entitled “Insights and Solutions for Emerging Viruses and Infectious Diseases” in Riyadh on August 29, 2013 at the Riyadh Marriott Conference Center. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Meleihi stated, “We are bringing in the TOMI™ team to share their knowledge about these deadly infectious diseases, as well as to learn their approaches and solutions. We are also very interested to discover more about their state-of-the-art technology to combat these killer viruses as well as other infectious diseases. This will substantially strengthen our ability to address public health issues here in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and throughout the world."

The Symposium followed the recent initial graduation ceremony of 51 of the Ministry of Health staffers who each received a diploma in infection control. Deputy Health Minister for Planning and Development Mohammed Khushaim said it was a proud moment for the ministry to have these graduates from the program. The graduates, he hoped, will play an exemplary role in the ministry's efforts to tackle infection cases in its healthcare facilities. "Infection control is one the most important challenges at any healthcare facility," he added. For the Symposium, 5 representatives of TOMI traveled to Riyadh to present an educational worldwide overview on the state of infectious disease. The Symposium dealt with the current international infectious disease outbreaks, which have now reached troubling proportions, as well as the current crisis affecting millions of hospital patients worldwide that are acquiring Hospital-Acquired (Nosocomial) Infections (“HAIs”) each year. TOMI also introduced the attendees to SteraMistTM and the Binary Ionization TechnologyTM.

The Symposium drew significant interest from a wide cross-section of the Middle East population who are currently experiencing their own infectious disease outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) are reporting multiple cases of the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (“MERS-CoV”) which, according to the World Health Organization (“WHO”), is much deadlier than SARS. As a matter of fact, only one day before, another person died from MERS-CoV in Saudi Arabia – which, according to the WHO, was the 46th death out of a total 94 confirmed cases, with the majority occurring in Saudi Arabia. In less than six weeks, the holy city of Mecca will open its doors to millions of Muslim pilgrims for the annual Hajj, with multitudes congregating at the same holy places at the same time -- a perfect scenario for catching and spreading MERS-CoV, according to public health experts.

In discussions with the Minister of Health, Dr. Halden Shane, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of TOMI™, stated, “The Minister’s extreme interest and insight was very apparent to me, regarding answers and solutions in containing and eliminating not only this killer virus, but other infectious diseases as well ---not only for the Saudi population, but for the entire world.”

After the Symposium, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Meleihi said, “I was extremely happy and proud to have hosted this event, as we were able to not only educate the attendees on infection prevention as well as infectious disease control programs and solutions. We were also very impressed with the SteraMistTM state-of-the-art technology and TOMI’s proposed solutions to combat these killer viruses as well as other infectious diseases. I am confident that with these solutions, we will be in a better position to substantially strengthen our ability to address public health issues here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I believe that using TOMI’s technology in the Kingdom will create new job opportunities for our people in the emerging field of infectious disease control and prevention.”
