PSBD Discuss Further Cooperation with Partners


During a Forum at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

The Community Awareness Team, at the Private Security Business Department ( PSBD), the Ministry of Interior, discussed means of boosting cooperation with partners, as well as the joint social and security developments and requirements; as per the Ministry’s methodology and strategy.

These discussions took place at the Strategic Partners Forum, organized by the Private Security Business Department, the National Security Institute Headquarters in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The Forum was attended by a large number of officers from the Private Security Business Department, and representatives of public and private and government local departments, namely; the Musaffah Municipality; the Al Shahama Municipality; the Labor Inspection Office; Masdar City; the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology; the Abu Dhabi Center for Care and Rehabilitation; and the Traffic and Patrols Directorate; along with a number of schools and private companies.

At the opening of the Forum, Captain Juma'a Mohammed Al Badi, Community Police Branch Manager at the Madinat Khalifa Police Station delivered a speech welcoming the audience. He  stressed the significant importance of the Forum in terms of exchanging ideas and proposals, and promoting cooperation for the benefit of community members;  wishing success for all.

For his part, Captain Faisal Al Maghrabi, Chief of Companies Licensing Section at the Private Security Business Department underscored the keenness of Colonel Ahmed Al Hantoobi, head of the department to enhance collaboration with partners and achieve social interaction, being the main pillars of the Private Security Business Department.

On the same note, Houssam Eddine El Shazly, Legal Adviser at the Private Security Business Department gave the audience a brief overview of the private security sector governance, as well as its the causes and outcomes in the last 10 years. In his first work paper, he reviewed the role of private security personnel in the various work areas, stressing the importance of acquainting community members with the role of private security personnel in maintaining protection and security in society.

Moreover, Captain Juma'a Mohammed Al Badi, Community Police Branch Manager at the Madinat Khalifa Police Station, submitted a second work paper tackling the role of private security officers in labor camps, as Madinat Zayed city is witnessing increasing construction of labor accommodation units. This necessitates a great deal of awareness on the best means to handle security at these work camps and the need to recruit qualified special security officers, certified by the competent authorities at the Ministry of Interior.

Captain Omar Salem Al Ameri, Patrols Branch Manager tackled in the third work paper, the issue of traffic congestion at the beginning of the new school year. Al Ameri explained that the increasing number of students in schools every year, and the lack of sufficient parking spaces to accommodate the large number of vehicles gathering in front of schools, is the leading cause behind congestion and traffic jams.

At the end of the Forum, the floor was opened for participants to exchange views and further discussions, with a view to bolster cooperation between them.

Participants and attendees then conducted an inspection tour at the National Security Institute, where they were briefed on the various training courses organized by the Institute to train and qualify private security personnel. They also reviewed the efforts exerted to raise security personnel’s efficiency and standards, in pursuance of the Ministry of Interior’s strategic goals, to maintain security and safety.

Concluding, participants commended the role of the Private Security Business Department in achieving community interaction, through such important forums and meetings.
