Acrow Joins U.S. Trade Representative’s Business Roundtable on Africa
Also recognized for long-standing ties to the Continent
PARSIPPANY, N.J. - Friday, September 27th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE) Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, was recently invited by United States Trade Representative Michael Froman to join a high-powered group of U.S. companies doing business in Africa, including Citigroup, Dow Chemical, FedEx, GE and Microsoft. The business roundtable met during the 12th Annual African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum in Ethiopia to focus on how the U.S. government can further facilitate successful business relations between the U.S. and Africa.
At the Forum, which was widely attended by African government ministers and senior U.S. administration officials as well as African and U.S. business leaders, Ambassador Froman singled out Acrow as a successful example of America’s trade and investment relationship with Africa.
“We are honored to have been a part of this important event,” said Paul Sullivan, Acrow’s Director of International Business Development. “At Acrow, doing business in Africa is much more than supplying bridges to countries that need them. It’s about helping create a strong infrastructure essential to sustaining long-term growth. And it’s about helping people and their communities gain vital access to educational, health and economic resources that allow them to thrive and prosper.”
Through its Comprehensive Bridge Development Program, Acrow has worked on a number of large infrastructure development projects in Africa, including the recent supply of more than 150 bridges to the Government of Angola and 100 bridges to the Department of Feeder Roads in Ghana. Under the program, Acrow also provides specialized training for local engineers, technicians and contractors in bridge infrastructure.
“In his address to the Forum, Ambassador Froman remarked that African leaders like the fact that when American companies invest, they invest in local communities and local human resources,” Sullivan added. “We have always embraced this approach, in partnership with the local communities we support.”
