AURAK Hosts the International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications 2017

The International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications for 2017 (ICECTA’2017) occurred at the American University in Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.

ICECTA is organized by AURAK and focuses on the latest theoretical and practical developments in the fields of electrical engineering and computing technologies and their applications. It aims to provide engineers, professionals, academics, and researchers with a pulpit from which to share their current research findings and explore recent developments, current practices, and future research directions.

The conference extended over three days and was comprised of four world renowned scientists: Mohamed-Slim of Alouini King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia; Tulay Adali of University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), USA; Stefano Maci, Director of PhD School of Information Engineering University of Sienna, Italy; Jane Wang of University of British Columbia, Canada as keynote speakers, as well as one hundred, seventy-six technical paper presentations, and a student paper competition.  The authors of the top three papers were awarded prizes and certificates by the Conference General Chair and President of AURAK, Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al-Alkim. All of the presented papers will be submitted to IEEEXplore for candidacy for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer Aided Engineering RFMICAE (Indexed by ISI & Scopus Elsevier) or the International Journal of Embedded Systems (Indexed by Scopus Elsevier).

The conference commenced with a welcoming speech from Prof. Al-Alkim expressing the importance of the conference as a dais for deliberating the latest research findings and innovations in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, telecommunication, and electromagnetic applications. Prof. Al-Alkim was followed by Prof. Mousa Mohsen, the Dean of School of Engineering, who described the leading role of the School of Engineering as the center of excellence for engineering research and development. The conference organizational and technical aspects were conveyed by Dr. Maen Takruri, the Conference Organizing Chair, and Professor Amjad Omar, the Conference Technical Chair, respectively. The representatives of the conference official sponsors, Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters, Ras Al Khaimah Finance Department, and Ras Al Khaimah Public Services Department, were all honored by Prof. Al-Alkim.

Conference activities also included a gala dinner and a safari trip.
