Headed by Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director General, Traffic Coordination General Directorate at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), a delegation from the UAE participated in the 16th Arab Conference for Heads of Traffic Authorities, which was recently hosted in the Tunisian capital, between the 25-26th May.
The meeting discussed a number of topics on its agenda, including updating traffic accident statistic records in the Arab countries, the role of traffic authorities in achieving road safety, and the image of traffic officers in the Arab media.
The participants also looked at a comprehensive vision for an all-inclusive traffic awareness campaign, the latest developments in the technical inspection of vehicles, as well as their role in reducing traffic accidents.
Additionally, the participants reviewed the experiences of Arab countries in regulating traffic and reducing road accidents, as well as the celebrations that will be organized to mark the Gulf Traffic Week.

It also aims to study the effect of smart techniques on drivers and their role in improving traffic safety on roads.
The second paper tackled the relationship between the use of traffic safety technologies and the behavior of drivers on Abu Dhabi highways.
The MoI delegation included Brigadier Khamis Ishaq Mohammed, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police; Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkim, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah; Colonel Ali Humaid Al Musaibi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department in Ajman; and Major Eng.
