MoI Urges First Batch of National Service Recruits to Reciprocate their Homeland’s Benevolence

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, March 26th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Federal National and Reserve Service Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior urged the first batch of civilian employees working in the Ministry of Interior, within the third batch of the national service recruits countrywide, to give back to their benevolent country. These remarks were made during an introductory workshop on national service that was held at the Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi.

Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior stressed the importance of responding to the directives of the supreme higher leadership and enrolling in national service in order to promote optimal values of what it means to serve the nation. “National service enhances the concept of patriotism amongst future generations,” he said.

For his part, Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Head of the Federal National and Reserve Service Department, indicated that the workshop is held in response to the directives of the police leadership. “The police leadership aim to strengthen the capabilities and efficiency of the youth, and to promote their sense of patriotism, enhance their confidence and self-esteem, and build character and discipline. By doing so, the values of loyalty, belonging and sacrifice will be resolutely instilled amongst the civilian personnel of the Ministry of Interior, of whom have satisfied the requirement of the national reserve service,” he said. 

Adding further, he emphasized that belonging to the homeland is not merely a catchy slogan or expressive words: “It is an act of love, loyalty, and sacrifice. The value of a nation reflects the progress of its people. There is no greater love then the love for the country in which we were raised.” Furthermore, the Head of the Federal National and Reserve Service Department urged staff members to represent the Ministry of Interior in an honorable way, so as to reflect the importance of embodying the values of loyalty and belonging to the nation.

Colonel Waleed Salem Al Shamesi introduced the Federal Law No. (6) of 2014, regarding the national and reserve service in order to acquaint the staff members with its provisions, regulations, decisions, instructions for implementation, and its objectives. He highlighted the role of the Ministry of Interior as one of the entities provided for in Article No. (6) of the National and Reserve Service Law, and as the mechanism upon which the law will be implemented.  

During the workshop, Colonel Al Shamesi additionally responded to the inquiries of the members from the first batch of the civilian staff members of the Ministry of Interior countrywide.
