Capital Police Calls to Secure Houses before Travelling as an Anti-theft Measure

Urged Merchants to Keep Money in Banks or Safes

The Capital Police Directorate urged citizens and residents to secure their houses before travelling to protect them from theft. The directorate also called on shopkeepers to keep their money safely in banks or in sealed safes, and not to leave large sums of money in drawers that are easy to crack open by burglars.

Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Acting Director of the Capital Police Directorate noted that there are several measures that individuals can implement in order to protect their homes against theft. “These measures include firmly locking doors, asking relatives to remove newspapers and advertisement brochures left at the house’s doorsteps daily, leaving external lights to suggest activity around the house, and refraining from leaving valuables at home,” explained Colonel Borshid.

Furthermore, he stressed that cooperation and commitment from community members to comply with such preventive measures help to protect houses against burglaries. “The directorate has also implemented an awareness initiative to educate individuals about the means to secure their houses, as a part of the efforts to enhance collective responsibility on the need to combat burglaries,” said Acting Director of the Capital Police Directorate.

Colonel Borshid also warned families traveling to visit friends and family against leaving their homes unsecured and called upon them to lock the doors firmly and properly. He also advised them not to leave their valuables and jewelry in obvious places, which makes them vulnerable to theft when they travel abroad.

He also emphasized the readiness of the police forces to maintain security, protect the community from crime and apprehend the perpetrators in all circumstances and at all times. “The Capital Police has deployed its police stations across Abu Dhabi for the service of citizens and residents alike by intensifying its security patrols across all areas,” indicated Colonel Borshid.

In conclusion, Colonel Borshid warned beachgoers against drowning accidents; urging people to swim in designated areas and to abide by the instructions of the competent authorities. He also warned parents against sending their children unattended to beaches, given the great risks they may face.
