UAE Bids Farewell to Martyred Officer amid Huge Official and Popular Attendance

HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed conveys UAE President’s Condolences to the Martyr’s Family

The United Arab Emirates bid farewell to its martyred son, First Lieutenant Tareq Mohammed Ahmed Al Shehi after noon prayers on Tuesday, in his hometown Sham District, in Ras Al Khaimah. Large crowds of Emirati citizens and residents attended the funeral, along with His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi , Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah; HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor; and Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
The body of the martyr was flown in on Tuesday on a private jet to RAK International Airport, where it was received by full military honors. The special official ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi; HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior; Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; His Highness Major General Sheikh Taleb Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Police, alongside a number of senior police officers and dignitaries, and Mohamed bin Hamad Saqer Al Moawda, Bahrain's Ambassador to the UAE.
Their Highnesses, along with relatives of the martyr and a group of mourners, attended the funeral prayers held at Ahmed bin Hanbal Mosque, before they laid the deceased to rest at the Sham district graveyard in RAK. They expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying to Allah to bestow his mercy on the deceased and rest him in eternal peace, and to accept him among the group of honorable martyrs. They also prayed Allah to grant the family the patience and solace to bear his loss.
The funeral prayers were also performed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi; His Highness Major General Sheikh Taleb Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, the Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Police; H E Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al-Qasimi. Chairman,Department of Civil Aviation; Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Office of H.H. the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Customs and Ports Department. Also present were Sheikh Ali bin Talib bin Saqr Al Qasimi; Sheikh Arahma bin Saud bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Deputy General Manager of Union Cement Company in Ras Al Khaimah; Sheikh Sultan bin Jamal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Manager of Department of Citizens Affairs - Ruler's Court; Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Khalid Al Qasimi, and a large crowd of dignitaries, senior officials and officers of the Armed Forces, police, tribal leaders and residents, and members of Arab and Muslim communities living in the UAE.
Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, visited the martyred officer Al Shehi’s family residence, and conveyed the deepest condolences of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. He stressed the commitment of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to follow-up on the details of the investigation into the treacherous terrorist act closely.
Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan condemned the heinous crime that claimed the life of an Emirati citizen, First Lieutenant Tareq Mohammed Ahmed Al Shehi and two of his Bahraini colleagues in the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Highness stressed that this cowardly act will only make us even more determined to maintaining the security of the Gulf States and their citizens.
His Highness Sheikh Saif stressed that UAE youth have always been ready to answer the call of duty, to defend the common causes and support sister countries. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of the martyred officer, as well as to families of all those who have died in the line of duty, noting that martyrs are heroes who sacrificed their life to serving the country, and they will be solemnly remembered as a role model for the coming generations to emulate to keep the UAE flag flying aloft.
The fallen soldier’s family and friends expressed their feeling of honor and pride for the precious national sacrifice made by First Lieutenant Al Shehi. They also expressed their appreciation to the higher leadership, for their generous support, which grants solace to the bereaved hearts.
For his part, Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior strongly condemned the terrorist attack against the sister kingdom of Bahrain, which claimed the lives of UAE First Lieutenant Tareq Mohamed Al Shehi and two of his Bahraini colleagues.  He emphasized that no criminal act will deter Emiratis from performing their duty to their country and their brothers in GCC countries.
"We sadly mourn the loss of our fallen soldier, and condole his family, relatives and the UAE people on the tragic demise of First Lieutenant Al Shehi, whom we hail as martyr of duty," said Lt. General Al Sha’far.  "We highly appreciate the genuine feelings of sadness expressed by the Emirati people and UAE residents, and we pray Allah to rest the martyr’s soul in heaven, pledging to follow his path.  The Ministry of Interior’s will spare no effort to maintain the security and stability of the UAE and the Gulf region; and to defend the right. Their sacrifices will be forever remembered in the UAE history, as role models for sacrifice and giving." Lt. General Al Sha’far also prayed Allah to bestow his mercy on the martyr’s soul and grant him eternal peace.  He also prayed Allah to grant the martyr’s family the patience and solace to bear his loss.
Furthermore, Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far added: "We reiterate our appreciation for police officers who are serving in the "Gulf Waves Force" in the Kingdom of Bahrain. We highly praise their unwavering efforts to maintaining security and safety of their Bahraini brethren in the island kingdom." Lt. General Al Sha’far noted that he’s fully confident that the justice and security bodies in Bahrain will track down the terrorists that are attacking law enforcement personnel, intimidating innocent people and targeting public and private property. “These terrorists will ultimately be arrested and brought to justice, to answer for their cowardly terrorist acts,” he stated.

Major General Sheikh Taleb bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police sadly announced martyr First Lieutenant Tareq Mohamed Al Shehi’s death. "With deep feelings of sadness and sorrow, we mourn our beloved son; martyr First Lieutenant Tareq Mohamed Al Shehi. The martyr was member of Ras Al Khaimah Police GHQ; he sacrificed his life in the sister Kingdom of Bahrain while performing his duty to protect our Bahraini brothers."
"The fallen soldier was known for his high morals, hard work, devotion and sincere commitment to fulfilling his duty, as well as his courage in all tasks.  His sacrifices raised To Allah Almighty in heaven, and we hail him as the martyr of the nation, who has died in protecting the right, human values, and peace. This is the ultimate sacrifice that anyone can make,” said Major General Sheikh Taleb bin Saqr Al Qasimi.
In conclusion, Major General Sheikh Taleb bin Saqr Al Qasimi expressed his sincere and heartfelt condolences to the martyr’s family and children, praying Allah to bestow his mercy on the deceased and rest his soul in heaven. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision *They rejoice in what Allah has bestowed upon them of His Bounty, rejoicing for the sake of those who have not yet joined them, but are left behind (not yet martyred) that on them no fear shall come, nor shall they grieve * They rejoice in a Grace and a Bounty from Allah, and that Allah will not waste the reward of the believers."
Biography of the martyr
First Lieutenant Tareq Mohamed Al Shehi was born in the Sham District, in Ras Al Khaimah in 1972. He graduated from the village’s high school and joined the military service at the MoI in April 1997 in the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the Loyal Service Medal, and was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant.
First Lieutenant Tariq Al Shehi, a 41-year-old father of four, was known for his dedication and sincere commitment to fulfilling the tasks and duties entrusted to him. He was also known for his good conduct in his career and personal life.
