Al Ain Traffic Police Confiscate 446 Vehicles in February
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Friday, March 28th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police announced that it has confiscated 446 cars and 17 motorbikes for various traffic law violations in February. The Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section also said they had released 671 impounded vehicles and four motorbikes during the same period.
Major Salah Abdullah Al Hemairi, Chief of the Al Ain Traffic Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police explained that the violations include dangerous overtaking of other vehicles by truck drivers (resulting in 24 black points), reckless driving in a way that poses a danger to others or racing on the roads (resulting in 12 black points), or the serious offense of fleeing the scene after causing an accident that results in causalities, as well as other violations.
Furthermore, he noted that another reason for confiscating cars is because the drivers had reached the maximum limit of 24 black points. In these cases, a number of traffic authorities, like the Traffic Control Branch and Traffic Investigation Branch, may confiscate cars as they patrol traffic.
In conclusion, Major Al Hemairi stressed that Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section carries out continuous awareness campaigns, to warn motorists, pedestrians, and all road users against committing traffic violations, and failing to comply with traffic laws. He also emphasized the importance of obeying traffic laws, and to adhere to the designated speed limits to enhance safety on the roads.
