The
Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the
General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Interior, represented by the Institutional Excellence
Department organized a lecture titled: “Role of Leaders in Strategic
Change”.
The lecture was delivered by Major General Nasser
Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Interior, at the Decision Support Center
Theatre in Abu Dhabi.
Major General Al Nuaimi said that the
Ministry of Interior endeavors to achieve important strides in the
strategic development process, laying emphasis on constant modernization
of strategic plans as one of its top priorities.
Major General
Al Nuami reiterated the higher leadership’s commitment to achieve
excellence, and maintain the achievements made during the prestigious
march to attain security and safety. “The Ministry of Interior is
steadily forging ahead towards achieving the coveted aspirations through
the UAE’s strategic vision focused on working efficiently to be among
the best countries in the world in terms of peace and safety,” he
pointed out.
“Our leadership has achieved excellence and laid a
strategy to achieve the highest levels of efficiency, competency, and
high-quality performance,” added Major General Al Nuami. Furthermore, he
noted that the Ministry of Interior has proposed and implemented a
strategic change program for police work, commensurate with its
intrinsic values of honesty, integrity, justice, human rights,
leadership, teamwork, innovation and excellence.
Major General Al
Nuami continued: “The ministry's distinguished performance was based on
the finest standards of excellence. The police leadership has paved the
way for the ministry's strategic planning process, and emphasized the
need to upgrade it regularly to keep pace with the progress and
development witnessed by the UAE. These successes are highlighted by
the countless Government Excellence Awards obtained by the Ministry of
Interior in its efforts to safeguard the country’s gains.”
During
the lecture, Professor Christopher Reeve, Deputy Director of the
Institute for Development Policy and Management in Manchester, United
Kingdom submitted a work paper. He underlined the tasks and duties of a
leader and the characteristics that would allow him to lead the change
process towards development in any institution. Professor Reeve also
highlighted the fundamental characteristics of successful leadership and
means to identify the right time to launch a change process in the
institution.
The lecture was attended by Major General Dr. Abdul
Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Director General of Total Quality at
Dubai Police GHQ; Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri,
Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General
Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Interior; and a number of the Ministry of Interior’s staff members.
