Saif Bin Zayed Receives Exceptional Students Looking Forward to Serving their Nation through Different Occupations


"My Dream… My Life": Towards a vision of the UAE that develops promising leaderships and competencies

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, March 10th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, recently met seven exceptional Emirati students that are in the first grade and are looking forward to obtaining educational qualifications in order to achieve their aspirations and their dreams of serving their homeland. He met them at his office. These students are seeking to achieve this dream through different specific occupations required by the labor market, in pursuance with the “My Dream… My Life” initiative. It is worth mentioning that this initiative is part of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program, at the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

HH Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed gave directions to prepare a comprehensive national directory to serve as a model to be applied at the State level, explaining the procedures of implementing the community-based initiative documenting its inception and the primary to secondary cycles. HH Sheikh Zayed encouraged the exceptional students to pursue further excellence and educational accomplishments, wishing to see them practicing the jobs they dream of in the future, and said he wished to see them choose their future careers in a way that serves and builds our cherished homeland.

Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program attended the meeting. Also present were Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police; Colonel Saud Al Saadi, Director of the Secretariat of His Highness, the Minister; and Dr. expert Ibrahim Al Dabal, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program; along with a number of officers.

The meeting was also attended by Hanan Abdul Rahman, an education teacher; Hanaa Jassim, the sources teacher (From Al Nukhbah Modern School for Boys in Dubai); Fatima Al Hammadi, mother of one of the exceptional students, as well as students who were dressed in their ‘dream career’ uniforms: Exceptional Officer Abdullah Omar; Exceptional Pilot Ibrahim Hamid; Exceptional Doctor FahEd Mohammed;  Exceptional Engineer Hisham Mohammed; Exceptional Teacher Osama Sami; Exceptional Lawyer Humaid Khalifa; and Exceptional Firefighter Saif Ahmed.

Major General Al Nuaimi spoke about the “My Dream.. My Life” initiative. “It is an effective community-based initiative reflecting the achievements accomplished by the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program that serve this target group. It encourages spreading educational goals that improve learning, love and nation-building,” pointed out Al Nuaimi. He also noted that “My Dream… My Life” is a project that seeks to achieve a vision of the UAE that helps develop promising leaderships and competencies.

He added: “The initiative focuses on self-motivation and has significant impacts on the behaviors of students in order to prepare an ambitious generation from the earliest stages. The initiative also intends to raise the awareness of the child and his family about the importance of setting future goals and planning to achieve them from an early age, as well as strengthen their desire so they can achieve their dreams, train them on the methods of positive thinking and make sound decisions that are in line with their needs and preferences, abilities and help them choose a future career suiting their preferences and abilities.”

For his part, Dr. Expert Colonel Ibrahim Al Dabal said that the initiative provides a set of cognitive, life and practical skills that helps the student enhance their perceptions and dreams about their future career. “This is achievable through establishing paths, potentials and specific methods that include creating positive behaviors oriented towards the child’s dream, and relates to his future dream, provided it includes all the professions that the child dreams of and the labor market needs,” said Al Dabal.

Colonel Al Dabal also noted that the vision of the initiative is that each student has a career. “The initiative’s message enables students to achieve their profession and dream career that serves the vision and mission of the State and strengthens its regional and international stature, so as to serve the citizens and the country alike,” noted Al Dabal.

On the same note, he said that the overall objective of the initiative is to provide training manuals, educational materials, explanatory models, cartoon drawings and documentaries on various occupations that include supportive skills, abilities and positive behaviors to be circulated, published and marketed to various stakeholders.

In conclusion, he said that the “My Dream…My Life” initiative was implemented Al Nukhbah Modern School for Boys in its first phase, and will be followed by other schools. “The number of students who were targeted by the project reached 88 students, who have chosen different professions; 39 officers, 22 pilots, 11 engineers, 5 teachers, 5 doctors, 3 lawyers, a firefighter, and an accountant,” added Al Dabal.

For her part, Hanan Abdul Rahman, an education teacher from Al Nukhba Modern School, stressed that the “My Dream…My Life” initiative aims to develop the leadership spirit in the students, prepare a generation that has confidence and the ability to assume responsibility, encourage students to participate in national development, and train them to plan for the future.

“This is a comprehensive and integrated initiative that features briefings with the program’s administrators, and includes the organization of workshops for students in the schools, as well as field visits to career sites, and aims to establish an integrated generation of exceptional students,” noted Abdul Rahman.
