Saif bin Zayed Attends Signing of MoU to Raise Awareness of Juveniles about Law Respect Culture



ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, December 24th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended, today “Wednesday”, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau and the Juveniles Awareness and Care Association. The MoU is intended to enhance cooperation on establishing law respect culture among the Emirati youth. The signing ceremony took place at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ).

The MoU was signed by Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security, Chairman of the Association, and Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, representing the Ministry of Interior.

The signing was attended by Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations; Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau; Lt. Colonel Dr. Hamoud Al Afari, Deputy Director; Sultan Saqr Al Suwaidi, Deputy Chairman of the Association; and Dr. Mohammed Mourad Abdulla, Secretary of the Association.

The MoU aims at instilling the culture of law respect among Emirati youth at the countrywide level, and to acquaint them with the successful methods to achieve that goal, and raise awareness about the importance of law respect. It also aims at promoting social and behavioral ties in society, to preserve future generations and maintain national gains.

Under the MoU, both parties will endeavor to raise awareness about law respect and instill this culture among the youth so it would become a daily practice and conduct. Both sides will also cooperate in raising awareness of youth groups in clubs and sporting facilities, through awareness lectures and educational competitions about law respect.

The MoU also includes organizing educational activities about the law, its importance in protecting society and fulfilling its future goals, cooperating in spreading awareness stories through the association’s website and social media.

In the same context, Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior to achieve intellectual security and protect the youth’s minds. This is achieved by providing the youth with all the care and attention, and by instilling positive messages in their young minds as a psychological defense line to protect them against behavioral deviation.

For his part, Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi reiterated the keenness of the Ministry of Interior to cooperate and form partnerships with official authorities and civil society institutions to boost the intellectual level of individuals, which will reflect positively on the social security level in the UAE.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul said that the Law Respect Bureau is striving to spread law education amongst all community members, of all ages, categories and walks of life. It dedicates special attention to the youth, which are the most important strategic target for any authority in charge of instilling values and morals. “Young people in the prime of their age are a fertile ground well suited to instill positive morals and values, which will define their future behavior, and enhance their commitment to the ideals and customs upheld by their community,” he continued.

Maryam Al Ahmedi, Social Researcher at the Law Respect Bureau, and a member of Juveniles Awareness and Care Association, explained that a long term educational program will be organized for the youth and their parents across the UAE, to emphasize the importance of law respect. There will also be workshops for delinquent juveniles at the Punitive and Correctional Establishments, to improve their law education and rehabilitate them with a view to integrate them into society, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to develop programs and initiatives for the benefit of all society segments.

In conclusion, she called for availing of the efforts of volunteers and activists in the field of juvenile care and to invest in their creative ideas to complement and provide support for the work undertaken by official institutions working in this field.
