Ministry of Interior Celebrates the 43rd UAE National Day

Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior attended on Tuesday morning the celebration marking the UAE 43rd National Day, which was held at the Ministry of Interior.

The celebration was attended by Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services; Major General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Civil Defense Acting General Commander-in-chief; Major General Abdul Aziz Maktoum Al Shareefi, Director General of Protective Security in the Ministry of Interior; Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of  Central Operations; and Major General Humaid Al Hadidi, Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police. Police commanders in chief across the UAE, directors general, Colonel Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of Peripheral Regions Directorate; Captain Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters; along with a number of officers, non-commissioned officers, constables and female staff members from the Ministry of Interior also attended the festivities.

The ceremony started with the UAE national anthem, followed by a speech by H.E Lt. General Saif Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior. He said “It gives me great pleasure and honor to gather with you on this particular day, as we commemorate  the 43rd anniversary of our young promising country, and recall  its great and unprecedented achievements across all fields; especially achievements made in the policing sector,  which established security, safety and stability. This was achieved thanks to the strong support provided by the higher leadership to the Ministry of Interior and the policing sector.”

He added, “The 2nd of December of 1971 is a very dear occasion for all of us. On this day, we remember with pride and affection the founding fathers, notably, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May he rest in peace), and his late brothers their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council, Rulers of the Emirates, for their valuable and unstinting efforts and strong will, to establish the pillars of the Union, which is considered as a great example of stability, harmony and cohesion.”

He stressed that “The UAE, under the umbrella of the Union and the higher leadership, is progressing steadily towards more empowerment where security and justice prevail.” He pointed out that the UAE leadership understands the importance of security, stability and peace of mind to maintain the continuity of achievements and pioneering.  “Laws and regulations need an executive authority to ensure effective enforcement, and security is one of the key pillars of development,” he continued.

Adding further, he said, “Our leadership was keen to develop the policing body across the UAE by supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Interior; giving top priority to the police institution and providing it with all means of support and attention. This has helped the police force to achieve a prominent position among world policing institutions, as testified by specialized international organization and authorities. This has also had a major effect on developing competencies that keep abreast of the latest technological developments attained in the policing sector. During the past decades, the Ministry has piled up myriad achievements in accordance with strategic plans and clear goals, thanks to which, our country became an oasis of security and stability.”

Towards the end of his speech, Lt. General Al Sha’far, speaking on behalf of all of the Ministry of Interior’s staff members, extended the warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and to the people of the UAE; praying to Allah Almighty to preserve the UAE and bless it with security, safety, progress and prosperity.

Lt. General Al Sha’far, and the attendees, watched a documentary film “Al Zaeem Al Falahi”, dedicated to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, from Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, on this occasion.

Poet Saeed bin Durri Al Falahi, recited a poem, marking the auspicious occasion, while the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band performed a number of musical pieces and presented a traditional performance titled “The Spirit of the Union”, along with traditional dances, which were highly acclaimed by the attendees.
