SAN JOSE, Calif. - Wednesday, November 14th 2012

CDNetworkshas extended its global reach with a point of presence (PoP) in Kenya. Kenya shows opportunities for online growthwith 12 million, or 28% of the population online in 2012, an increase of 300% over 4 million in 2010. CDNetworks’ presence in Kenya, added to South Africa, provides website, cloud application, and dynamic content acceleration for major emerging markets on the continent of Africa.

“CDNetworks’ ongoing effort to improve its footprint in emerging markets is a perfect fit for SITA,” said Sébastien Fabre, Vice President Integrated Networks, SITA. “As the world's leading specialist in air transport communications and information technology (IT), we have a significant customer base in Africa and CDNetworks is helping us to provide improved delivery here as well as in our key markets of China, Russia, India, and the Middle East. The implementation of a PoP in Kenya for example, which will optimize online performance, will hugely benefit our customers. Airline passengers will now have a better user experience when they access airline websites within the African continent.”

A 2012 MasterCard surveyshows that the online shopping and travel booking base in Kenya is growing. According to MasterCard, “the most popular online shops for Kenyans were those that offered music downloads, books, CDs, DVDs, digital entertainment content and computer software for sale, with airline websites capturing the highest value of purchases.”

The PoP in Kenya connects to CDNetworks 140 PoPs in 80 cities around the world. Kenya was chosen based on customer demand as well as tremendous growth predictions by the World Bankof 5% growth in GDP for 2012 and 2013.

“Our customers, such as SITA, can now offer the same level of high performing dynamic content to their customers in Kenya as they do around the world,” said Jeff Kim, President & COO, Americas/EMEA, CDNetworks.
