MF Global Acquires Multi-Asset Retail Trading Platform

NEW YORK - Tuesday, October 18th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MF Global Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: MF), a broker-dealer providing trading and hedging solutions, today announced that it has acquired Strategy Runner Trading Ltd., a multi-asset front-end trading system and algorithmic trading solutions provider that enables professional traders and retail investors the ability to access, automate, distribute and implement trading strategies. The firm paid $3.75 million for the acquisition.

This acquisition advances MF Global’s strategy to build a comprehensive multi-asset, multi-currency, electronic trading platform to meet demand among retail investors and professional traders for efficient, cost-effective global market access from a single point of entry. Strategy Runner’s platform currently offers trading in futures, foreign exchange and contracts for difference (CFD) markets around the world. MF Global intends to expand this offering over time.

The firm recently restructured its Retail Services division to better serve global retail clients and professional traders. The realignment of the business focused on leveraging MF Global’s geographic footprint and diverse product offering to create a unified and scalable, customer-focused retail platform.

“As one of the world’s leading futures and options brokers, we’re maximizing the power of our global resources and brand to provide broad market access and better serve our key client segments,” said Randy MacDonald, global head of Retail Services, MF Global. “Through the strategic addition of Strategy Runner, we will work to build an enhanced platform for clients to execute unique, automated trading strategies across multiple asset classes. We believe our global distribution coupled with Strategy Runner’s innovative platform will offer best-in-class service and opportunities to investors and traders around the world.”

“We are thrilled to be joining MF Global,” said Yakov Becker, chief executive officer, Strategy Runner Trading. “We’re proud of the progress we’ve made in creating this platform and excited about the opportunities presented by this combination and the potential to accelerate investment and distribution of our products. We look forward to continuing to serve Strategy Runner clients, and expand our offering to retail investors around the world.”
