Adventures Students Camp Conclude the First Phase

Brigadier-General Mohammed Sohail Al Niyadi, Director of Strategic Planning at the National and Reserve Service Authority, attended the ceremony organized by the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program “Aqdar” for students who took part in the first phase of the 2nd edition of Adventures Students Camp. The students completed the Basics training period at the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI) in Al Shahama, Abu Dhabi.
The 2nd phase of the training program, which started today (Saturday), will continue until the 7th of April.

The ceremony was attended by Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Al Dabal, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program, along with a number of Armed Forces officers, representatives of the Ministry of Education, and a crowd of students’ parents. The ceremony started with the national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Then, the attendees watched a ceremonial military field-line-up presented by the participating students, who gave different military performances; including the dismantling and assembly of weapons, to showcase their talents and level of qualification. The performances also reflected students’ high spirit and morals, and embody their loyalty, belonging, and love to serve and defend the UAE.
Brigadier-General Al Niyadi delivered a speech, by which he noted that the interaction and response exhibited by both the students and parents reflect their high level of awareness, and their determination to answer the call of duty. “Such response and resolve to answer the call of duty is no stranger to the UAE citizens,” he said.
Brigadier-General Al Niyadi expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai for their fruitful cooperation and efforts, to ensure the success of this collaborative effort, which contributed effectively to the implementation of the National and Reserve Service Law. He also hailed the collaboration of all the related parties in achieving national work.
He also praised all the efforts put forth to prepare the UAE’s youth for life and the future, as well as to raise the awareness of students in particular, and to hone their personality, to instill values in them and promote national identity. Brigadier-General Al Niyadi stressed that this approach is ideal to nurture future generations, upon which the country depends to lead the process of development and to preserve and defend the gains of the UAE and their safety, security and progress.
Towards the end of the ceremony, Brigadier-General Al Niyadi and Colonel Al Dabal honored the top achieving students, and distributed certificates to the graduates. They also took a commemorative picture with the graduates and congratulated them.
For his part, Colonel Al Dabal pointed out that the Camps are the result of the fruitful strategic cooperation and partnership between the Ministry of Education, Armed Forces, and Khalifa Student Empowerment Program (Aqdar). He explained that the first edition of the Camp was held in December 2015, under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and the close follow-up of Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority.
He also noted that Adventures Students Camp combines skill-learning with recreation in order to provide students with knowledge and work on developing their skills in an innovative way. He also explained that the program aims at delivering a message about the importance of the National Service, and represents a high quality and excellent way to prepare students for the national service.
He explained that the program of the 12-day Camp includes a wide variety of activities. On the first day, administrative procedures were taken to enroll the students, designate their accommodations, and conduct initial medical tests to assess their physical fitness. The students were also enrolled in various sports exercises, and were introduced to their sports groups.
The activities of the 2nd phase of the Adventures Students Camp will continue with the aim of raising the awareness of students on the importance of the National Service Project, and to promote students’ physical and military skills in a unique adventurous style.
The Adventures Students Camp’s activities included sporting activities to increase their physical fitness, mountain climbing and rowing exercises, as well as visits to heritage locations and lectures on the history of the UAE. The camp also included basic military training, focusing on field training, camouflage, guard patrols’ training, monitoring and night navigation. The program also included courses to promote leadership and planning skills, decision making, via training scenarios set forth by specialized supervisors, as well as on shooting simulator training. Towards the end of the camp, the students will undergo an assessment test to determine their fitness and skills. Rewards will be granted, in a separate second celebration, which will be attended by senior officers and supervisors in charge of the initiative.
