Adventures Students Camp Kicks off Saturday with Participation of 1000 Students

Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and the follow up of Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority, the activities of the 2nd Adventures Students Camp will kick off with the participation of 1000 students. The camp is organized in collaboration and partnership with the Armed Forces, Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, and Khalifa Student Empowerment Program.

The Camp is a strategic initiative that links students with National Service by empowering students and providing them with capabilities needed for developing their national awareness and love to their homeland. It also aims to strengthen national identity aspects within their personality, as these students will play an active role in the future in serving their country and defending it.

Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority said: “this leading initiative was developed in collaboration with our partners and is based on our understanding of the importance of constructive communication with our youth in order to introduce them to the National Service and prepare them for it. The initiative targets high school students throughout the UAE and aims to engage them in training and recreational camps. These camps help develop leadership characteristics in students by providing them with a set of acquired skills in everyday lifestyle throughout their training period. This will help creating a positive image for students about National Service. These Camps are valuable opportunities for students that prepare them physically and psychologically for the National Service experiment.” He also asserted that these Camps are organized in an energetic environment based on encouraging adventures and regular training.

He also noted that the training Camp will encourage students, incite feelings of national enthusiasm, and instill values of belonging and loyalty to the UAE as well as deepening national feelings in their identity. The Camp will provide a platform for students to gather and meet new friends as it also promote their awareness about their culture and history in an educational environment. It provides them with an opportunity to experience military life in an independent camp, which helps developing their capabilities and ability to carry up responsibility and realize independency.

For his part, Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Al Dabal, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program explained that the second Adventures Students Camps is held in Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI) in Al Shahama, Abu Dhabi. The course will be divided into two periods, the first during 26-31 March, and the second during 2-7 April.

He also pointed out that the Camps are the result of the fruitful strategic cooperation and partnership between the Ministry of Education, Armed Forces, and Khalifa Student Empowerment Program (Aqdar). He explained that the first version of the Camp was held in December 2015. It was held under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and the follow up of Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority.

He also noted that Adventures Students Camp combines skill-learning with recreation in order to provide students with knowledge and work on developing their skills in an innovative way. He also explained that the program idea is based on delivering the National Service message, thus it represents high quality and excellent preparing for the services.

Colonel Dr. Al Dabal explained that Camps were prepared in accordance with the highest standards to ensure optimum results with support from the Aqdar Program staff and Armed Forces. The Camps program include physical fitness program for students who need them in order to enhance their physical fitness, and provide them with leadership skills that will encourage them in the future to join the National Service.

The 12-day Camp’ program is rich with various activities. On the first day, all administrative procedures will be taken to enroll the students, designate their accommodations, and conduct initial medical tests to assess they physical fitness. The students will execute various sports exercises, and will be introduced to their sports groups.

On the second day, students will exercise a set of sports activities that are adventurous. Later they will attend lectures on national awareness, personal skills, health, safety, and crime prevention. On the third day, students will be provided with skills training as well as conduct cultural and heritage visits. The fourth day will be designated for performing leadership duties and responsibilities, and introducing students to leadership tactics. Parents will be invited to attend a group ceremony with their children. On the last day, students will be graduated in a ceremony, and the administration will take notes from students and parents. Distinguished students will be awarded, as well as other activities.
