MoI Reviews Mexican Safe City Program for Response Indicators

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, March 2nd 2016 [ME NewsWire]

During a coordinating meeting, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Interior (MoI) reviewed the Safe City Program that is implemented in Mexico’s capital, Mexico City. The program provides comprehensive and advanced technological solutions to attain ideal indicators of response times during crisis and provide public safety in record time.

Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Support Services, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Quick Response, recently received a delegation from Mexico headed by Idris Rodríguez, General Director of the Safe City Program in Mexico, at the ministry’s headquarters.

Major General Al Menhali also asserted that the MoI is committed to realizing international quick response indexes that fall in line with the UAE 2021’s agenda of national goals set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, including realizing a four minute response time to all emergency calls.

He also noted that holding such meetings helps to develop quick response indicators for handling emergency cases. This comes in response to the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to speed up work and response times to any potential challenges to keep pace with development in the UAE. This aims to establish a unified response policy in accordance with the UAE’s vision.

The meeting was attended by Colonel Sultan Ahmed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Secretary of the Office of the Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Support Services at the MoI, and Secretary of the Higher Committee for Quick Response at the MoI; as well as a number of members at the Higher Committee for Quick Response at the MoI. The meeting was also attended by Arturo Aguirre, IT Executive Coordinator of the Safe City Program in Mexico City.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties exchanged commemorative shields in recognition of the joint effort. They also affirmed fostering cooperation and exchanging information, response plans and curriculum according to the best international standards.

It is worth mentioning that the Safe City Program (City Monitoring) contributes to providing ways to ensure leadership now and in the future. It also helps to create crime-free environments with innovative methods. It addresses emergencies and monitors streets with video cameras to ensure their safety. It develops technologies for operation rooms, ambulances, and civil defense, thus reducing the response time of emergency response indicators. It continuously analyzes data to realize the highest levels of efficiency in the decision making process.
