ADP Organizes Sports Activities: Program Targets Female Inmates at Punitive and Correctional Establishments

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, March 30th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The sports activities for female inmates at the Punitive and Correctional Establishments in the Abu Dhabi Police will kick off next Tuesday, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC). The event will take place at the Al Wathba area and is being held as part of the second season of the “Sports For All With No Limits” program.

Colonel Ateeq Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director of the Punitive and Correctional Establishments at Abu Dhabi Police, said: “Based on the great efforts made by the higher leadership in sports, together with the support of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, we are cooperating for the second time with the ADSC, following the success of the first edition of the program that targeted the female inmates of the Punitive & Correctional Institutions.”

“Sport is a universal language and does not require a translator. Sport is more than just physical movements; it is training for both body and mind, which helps humans to unload tensions and sadness, stimulates the circulatory system and brings inner peace. It also combines pleasure and welfare, and thus became a civilized way to maintain balance in the life of people, whether for their bodies or minds,” he added.

For his part, Fadhil Al Mansouri, Director of Quality Sports Department the ADSC, commended the mutual cooperation with the Punitive & Correctional Establishments. He said: “This cooperation has resulted, for the second year in a raw, in the ‘Sports For All With No Limits’ program, which is one of the important and distinguished initiatives. The ADSC is keen to support and develop such initiatives that fall in line with our efforts.”

Al Mansouri added: “The ADSC spares no effort to spread sports culture among all segments of society. We are very keen to provide all capacities and capabilities to bring success to the distinguished sporting experience of women within social institutions.”

“The sports program for female inmates at the Punitive & Correctional Establishments aims on increasing their involvement and presence in sports initiatives. The program also intends to promote sport as a lifestyle. Sports activities and interaction help reduce diseases, promote health and empowers the psychological spirit of the inmates,” Al Mansouri explained.
