(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Tommy Hilfiger, which is owned by PVH Corp. [NYSE:PVH] announces Make it Possible, a bold approach to environmental and social sustainability that reinforces the organization’s commitment to create fashion that ‘Wastes Nothing and Welcomes All’. With Make it Possible, Tommy Hilfiger is initially committing to 24 ambitious targets centered around circularity and inclusivity, outlined across four pillars towards 2030:

Circle Round: Make products to be fully circular, and part of a sustainable loop.

Made for Life: Operate with sensitivity to planetary boundaries, for instance in the areas of climate change, land use, freshwater and chemical pollution, from what we buy to where we sell.

Everyone Welcome: Be a brand that works for every TOMMY Fan – always inclusive, completely accessible.

Opportunity for All: Create equal access to opportunity – no barriers to success at Tommy Hilfiger.

Tommy Hilfiger’s program is powered by parent company PVH Corp’s Forward Fashion strategy, a set of 15 priorities designed to reduce negative impacts to zero, increase positive impacts to 100%, and improve the over 1 million lives across the company’s value chain.

“I opened my first store, People’s Place, in 1969 in my hometown of Elmira for people of all backgrounds to come together and share exciting pop culture experiences,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “As our brand has evolved over the years, driven by this inclusive spirit, so has our commitment to social and environmental sustainability. With Make it Possible, we will go even further with our commitment. We’re working towards our vision with the entire organization focused on it and, while we’re not there yet, we are going to get there.”

“In these times of health, human, environmental and economic crisis, we share a responsibility to find innovative solutions that will encourage inclusivity and build a more circular future,” said Martijn Hagman, CEO, Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe. “It is in our nature to drive change, even in the most challenging of times, which is why we are announcing our ambitious Make it Possible sustainability program, outlining 24 targets towards 2030. Tommy Hilfiger has a decade’s long track-record for driving a more sustainable future, including pioneering low impact denim processes, championing water stewardship, and creating more inclusive collections. Make it Possible is one way we will work together to make a meaningful and lasting contribution towards a better fashion industry.”

Make it Possible marks the latest milestone in Tommy Hilfiger’s sustainability journey. Key achievements include the launch of Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive, designed to make dressing easier for adults and children with disabilities, and the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge, a global program aimed to support start-up and scale-up stage businesses developing solutions that promote inclusivity and sustainability in fashion. More recently Tommy Hilfiger launched People’s Place Program to advance the representation of black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) communities within the fashion and creative industries. To date, more than 80% of Tommy Hilfiger designers have been trained on circular design strategies and, in 2019, 72% of cotton used globally came from more sustainable sources. Additionally 2 million pieces of denim have been finished in lower impact, reducing the amount of water and energy used. Each seasonal TOMMY HILFIGER collection includes more sustainable styles in its collections, as evidenced by the 50% more sustainable styles planned for Spring 2021, double the amount from Spring 2020.

Recognizing that no one company can change the sustainability landscape alone, Tommy Hilfiger, as part of PVH Corp., has joined forces with industry partners by signing The Fashion Pact in August 2019, as well as joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation Make Fashion Circular and Jeans Redesign initiatives. For the past several years, Tommy Hilfiger has partnered with the WWF to address water risk in our strategic supply chain locations. This includes training on water risk management for suppliers and industrial parks in China’s Taihu River Basin and serving as the founding brand partner of a new water stewardship program in Vietnam in the Mekong basin.

Throughout its journey, Tommy Hilfiger will share its progress. For more information on Make it Possible and a full overview of achievements to date, visit: http://sustainability.tommy.com.

CGTN: China sets policy directions for building a modern socialist Tibet

BEIJING-Monday 31 August 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- China has mapped out policy directions for building a new modern socialist Tibet that is united, prosperous, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful.

As an inseparable part of China, the development of Tibet Autonomous Region has always been a priority for the Central Government.

Speaking at a two-day high-level meeting on Tibet work, which ended Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping gave guidance on Tibet-related work in the new era, calling for further efforts to ensure national security and enduring peace and stability, steadily improve people's lives, maintain a good environment, solidify border defense and ensure frontier security in Tibet.

Safeguard national unity, strengthen ethnic solidarity

As a border region, Tibet has long served as an important safety shield for the whole country. Meanwhile, more than 90 percent of inhabitants of Tibet are Tibetans.

Given that Tibet's security and stability are closely related to the overall development of the whole nation, Xi stressed that work related to Tibet must focus on safeguarding national unity and strengthening ethnic solidarity.

More education and guidance should be provided for the public to mobilize their participation in combating separatist activities, Xi noted, adding Tibetan Buddhism should be guided in adapting to the socialist society and should be developed in the Chinese context.

Consolidate poverty alleviation achievement

As of January this year, Tibet has basically eradicated absolute poverty with a total of 628,000 people and 74 county-level regions lifted out of poverty, according to data from the autonomous region's government.

Addressing development imbalances and inadequacies, Xi underlined the need to consolidate the achievements in poverty alleviation and to improve people's livelihood.

He highlighted the importance of policy support, infrastructural development, employment promotion and urgently-needed personnel training for the region's future social and economic development.

City of Tampere: Architecture Competition for New Art Museum Building to Launch in Finland

Image not foundTAMPERE, Finland-Monday 31 August 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- An international architecture competition has been launched in the historical city centre of Tampere. The contestants of the competition get to design a new building for the Sara Hildén Art Museum. The old factory buildings in the area as well as the cultural surroundings offer an interesting setting for the competition. With approximately 370,000 residents, the steadily growing Tampere is the largest inland city in the Nordic countries. If the nearby municipalities are included, Tampere is the second largest urban region in Finland.
The architecture competition lasts from 31 August to 2 December 2020. The results will be published in early 2021.
The Sara Hildén Art Museum and its internationally noteworthy art collection is a significant attraction in Tampere. The new location in a historically remarkable area improves the museum’s accessibility and provides audiences with new experiences. Compared to the current building, the new building will be significantly larger and have more modern museum technology, making it possible to display both the growing permanent collection and temporary exhibitions at the same time.
“The contestants will be required to design a high-quality building that acknowledges the surrounding city structure and the valuable cultural and green areas. The propositions must be feasible in terms of lifespan, functionality and the technical-economic point of view,” emphasises Deputy Mayor Jaakko Stenhäll.
The Mutual Pension Insurance Company Varma is the owner and developer of the Finlayson area buildings.
“The new museum will support the attractiveness and vitality of the western city centre and strengthen the cultural and leisure resources as well as the concentration of jobs in the area. We look forward to seeing the contestants’ proposals,” says Varma’s Real Estate Manager Kai Niinimäki.
Varma, the Sara Hildén Foundation and the City of Tampere are organising the architecture competition in cooperation with the Finnish Association of Architects, in line with the association’s competition rules.
Tampere is a university city and an attractive centre for know-how, trade and culture in Finland. Tampere is currently applying to become the 2026 European Capital of Culture.

(Photo : Thales)

Recently, Thales integrated its Luna Network HSM with CLS Group – a dedicated crypto processor that is specifically designed for the protection of the crypto key lifecycle – and Hyperledger – a multi-project open source collaborative effort hosted by The Linux Foundation, created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies.
Enabling Secure Cloud Transformation
Today, organisations on average use 29 cloud services for their collaboration, computing, customer relationship management and storage needs. Thales is helping companies secure the move to the cloud with cloud key management and access management solutions that integrate with the most widely used cloud platforms and services including AWS, Azure, Box, Office365 and Slack.
Thales’s SafeNet Trusted Access enables organisations to modernise their IT and Identity and Access Management (IAM) schemes, as part of their cloud transformation initiatives. For example, integrations with IGA vendors such as SailPoint enable secure identity governance and identity management workflows; Security for privileged users is achieved by securing PAM solutions such as BeyondTrust, at the access point; and continuous authentication and access control is enabled by working with CipherCloud’s CASB solution.
Securing Hybrid IT Environments
While organisations are rapidly adopting cloud services and moving infrastructure to the cloud, the majority are maintaining hybrid IT environments. One of the key challenges they face in doing so is bridging between modern and cloud IAM schemes. To this end, SafeNet Trusted Access’s integration with F5 BIG IP enables enterprises to implement smart SSO for cloud services while securing on premises legacy applications.
“Data and applications are fast becoming the lifeblood of any organisation, no matter the industry,” said John Morgan, VP & GM Security at F5. “For any customer to truly take advantage of this digital transformation, applications and their underlying data must be secure. By joining the Thales partner ecosystem, we are continuing our long history of collaboration to help customers achieve positive business outcomes through secure digital transformation.”
Enabling Trust for DevOps
Digital certificates play an integral role in DevOps workflows, securing authentication across users, devices and applications. The secure identities and certificates establish trust within enterprise infrastructure, pipeline, code and containers. Thales has expanded its DevOps technology partners to include Red Hat, HashiCorp, Kubernetes, VMWare Tanzu, Docker and Google for secure DevOps to enable customers to realise the benefits of automation, scale, & cloud native applications and digital transformation.
Securing the Identities and Data in IoT
In order to secure, manage and authenticate the billions of identities that will be created with the Internet of Things, Thales has recently expanded integrations for its HSMs, Data Encryption and Key Management solutions with leading providers of IoT security solutions such as Cisco, Microsoft, DigiCert, Sectigo, GlobalSign, KeyFactor and Venafi to help organisations secure the billions of identities that will be created over the next few years.
Code Signing becomes an essential service for businesses
Code signing has emerged as an essential ingredient to doing business for virtually any organisation that distributes code to customers and partners. Code signing verifies who the publisher of a specific set of code is and attests that it has not been modified since it was signed. Certificates delivered along with software that has been signed are a key way for users to determine whether software originates from a legitimate source before installing. Today, many software marketplaces, including mobile app stores, require code to be compliant with specific digital signing requirements.
One of those mandates is for applicants to generate and store their private key using a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified hardware solution. This can be a Hardware Security Module (HSM) that protects the identity, whether it is the server, virtualization server or the user. Thales' HSMs take the security one step further by storing the signing material in a hardware device, thus ensuring authenticity and integrity of a code file. Thales code signing partners include Adobe, DigiCert, Garantir GlobalSign, Keyfactor, Microsoft and Venafi.
