The MoI Obtains the “Excellence Through People” Award

First of Its Kind Worldwide at the Level of Policing Institutions

The Directorate General of Human Resources at the Ministry of Interior obtained the Excellence through People (ETP) Award (ETP1000-2012), awarded by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI). It is noteworthy that the Directorate General of Human Resources is the first police institution to obtain this award globally and the first governmental entity to receive it in the UAE.

Brigadier Dr. Ali Mohammed bin Darwish, Director General of Human Resources at the Ministry of Interior, received the award from John Perry, Minister of State for Small Business in Ireland. The ceremony was attended by HE Khalid Nasser Rashed Lootah, UAE Ambassador to Ireland and Major Abdullah Ali Al Habsi, Chief of the Strategy and Performance Development Section at the Directorate General of Human Resources, the Ministry of Interior.

Brigadier bin Darwish stressed that this achievement comes in pursuance of the directives and support of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif in Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. “His Highness urges all staff members to exert further efforts to take on the responsibilities of the future, keep abreast of the latest developments, ensure maximum quality and excellence and upgrade human resources and services provided by the Ministry to the public to the fullest,” noted Brigadier bin Darwish.

Furthermore, he added that the distinct efforts exerted by the ministry's leaderships to develop and manage the performance of its human resources aim to achieve excellence and attain the best international standards and practices. “The culture of excellence and quality is the language of our leadership, which urges us to achieve further excellence, so as to make the country a role model of civilization, creativity and sophistication,” indicated Brigadier bin Darwish.

“Winning this award coincides with the16 awards and medals won by the Ministry of Interior at the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award,” said Brigadier bin Darwish. He also pointed out that excellence, innovation and quality are an approach that the various entities of the Ministry of Interior endeavor to implement and personify the public responsibility towards the nation, the citizens and residents, which helped the country achieve prominent statures worldwide in various field.

In conclusion, he explained that the ETP Award consists of six main areas: business planning; quality improvement; effective communication and people involvement; planning of learning and development; employee performance evaluation; and human resources systems and employee well-being.
